Pumpkin Picking

A few weekends ago we took a family trip to Virginia and while we were there my family and I went to a local pumpkin patch. At Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach, children can enjoy a petting zoo, hayride, cotton candy and much more!

It was great. The weather was perfect and the children were thrilled. With all the walking and cool air I decided to wear my cute&funky canvas combat boots I got from NineWest with a light sweater, blazer and jeans. My hubby and I enjoy taking our little ones places where they can have so much fun!! This outing was no place for high heels but I still felt like one Hot Mommy! =)

Soon I will show you what we did with our pumpkins!!

So What You're At Home...Put On Lip Gloss Anyway

So often do we women lounge around the house in our over sized t-shirts and sweats...and let me tell you, I love every moment of it. However, when you work from home or if you are a stay at home mom (aka work AT home), you may start to feel your appearance taking a back seat...heck, your appearance is in the TRUNK!!! And, if you are a chronic at home shopper like myself, there is nothing worse than having to answer the door for the UPS guy in your dingy t-shirt and hair a total mess!!

Not any more ladies!!! Get up, take a refreshing shower with some aroma therapy, exfoliate your skin and put some lip gloss on!! Who says we can't prance around the house looking as well put together as June Cleaver?? So what its laundry day!! Paint those pretty nails and admire the choice of color while you're folding towels.
Smooches!!

Chili's in Dalton, GA....You're In Time-Out

Went to Chili's last night to enjoy a few drinks with family. It was a cheerful evening...meeting some relatives for the first time. In Dalton, GA, from what the locals tell me, going to Chili's or Applebee's is the thing to do.

When our party first arrived, there weren't any places to sit to accommodate the size of our group so we all sat at the bar to kickoff the night. My husband ordered his favorite drink and then asked the bartender for a lemon and lime. The bartender had just taken an order and had a nice twenty dollar bill in her hand ready to operate her register.
She went right over, grabbed a lemon and lime ---->WITH HER BARE HANDS<---- with the twenty dollar bill still in tote and placed them in my husband's glass. Its funny now when I think of it, but she must have noticed the look on our faces which I'm assuming compelled her to say "my hands are clean!"

Sure your hands are clean....as clean as that bill you're holding and as clean as those keys are on your cash register! I mean, come on, how much time would it have taken to grab a cocktail toothpick and use that instead of your dirty hands. Shame on you.

So....we decided to move our party once a table became available so that we could all sit together and at that time I ordered a cocktail to celebrate the upcoming wedding we were all gathered for just to find a little creature floating in my drink. Normal reaction...push the glass away and wait for my server.

Once she returned to our table, she simply grabbed the glass...drew it close to her face to confirm my findings and simply stated "oh" and walked away. That's it??? No I'm sorry, may I get you something else, nothing!!! Tisk, tisk, tisk!!! One thing Mommy Stiletto hates, besides bugs floating in her martini, is poor customer service!!

Beautifying Relaxation

Yesterday I went to the hair salon to
give my lustrous locks some special attention and I could not wait to get to that wash bowl! Something about letting someone else wash your hair that is SO relaxing to me, probably because I'm a complete massage junkie (hello, my name is Mommy Stiletto and I'm a massage addict).
A nice scrub just feels so good and is actually a nice stimulant for the scalp. Try to find some time to treat yourself to the hair salon. Get those ends clipped or freshen that color. What ever service you get, just enjoy every minute of it. I'm sure when you get home you will be ready to throw on your stilettos and show off your fresh new style.

Welcome Back

To our surprise and some prayers, Walmart  has decided to bring back layaway! This is a sign to get started early this year (like we say every year) with our Christmas shopping. I believe that the layaway options at Walmart are on select department items only so be mindful of that while racking up!
Happy shopping!

UnSTOPables

OMG!! Fragranced laundry detergent and fabric softeners have nothing on Downy's newest creation, Unstopables In-wash scent booster! They are amazing, and even with their high price the smell alone has me hooked.

For 7.99 you can enjoy one of their two fragrances and the scent does really last until the clothes are headed to the washer again. I just love these little things!!

On A Mission

Lately, I have been seeing Macarons on TV, online, in magazines...even as a discount ad on Livingsocial.com, and I must see what all the hype is behind these beautiful little things. So, I went on a hunt trying to find a local bakery that sold them but was not too successful. Although I have yet to find a local spot here, key word yet, I have resorted to the magazine I've last seen them in which directed me to Macaroncafe.com.

This site had every flavor imaginable and I could not resist placing an order. I was even kind enough to let my hubby select a few flavors for us to try. The colorful cookies should arrive this Thursday and I will be sure to let you know how good they are. I am really hoping they taste as good as they look!!

A Smooth Transition

One of my annual challenges is transitioning into fall shoes. I truly believe that once the weather breaks flip flops are OUT, while at the same time I have always feared appearing overly anxious for fall jumping into boots way too soon. So while layering can help with the chill in the air, as for shoes, any trendy flat will do. To me a flat is still covering without being too much so, fashionable during the day or night, and can come in handy when you start your "Fall Schedule" of pedicures...yes, I'm talking about you :)

Here are some nice affordable flats I may add to my collection this fall! Enjoy!

All of these cuties can be found at Aldo's website here and are $50 or less!!

Stains

Is it just me or do other moms try to lean towards serving their children the absolute least messy meals? I mean we all love spaghetti, but let me tell you...bib or no bib, spaghetti sauce always finds its way on the shirts of my little ones.
After my girls went on a "NO MORE CHICKEN NUGGETS" strike I had to think of how to tackle these stains head-on with complete victory and of all places this tip came to me on our family vacation. While on vacation (although I myself was not actually on vacation, just away from home doing my wifely/motherly duties,) we of course enjoy every edible treat available; snow cones, funnel cake, pizza, however, there isn't always a washer and dryer and my Shout Stain Remover handy.

I refuse to allow these little stains to stick around for the rest of our trip. Grandma always said "use sweet soap" (also known as bar soap) on stains as a pre-wash treatment and that is a great way to handle these little vacation stains.
I never use hotel soap on myself or my family. Nothing personally against it but we are just Dove people, however I find that hotel soap is the best pre-wash stain treater. Just wet the garment, rub the soap directly on the stain and allow it to sit. I personally allow it to dry on the garment until we return home and once washed..BAM...the stains are gone. Now on vacation I am the woman collecting all the hotel soap =)

Welcome Fall

Fall is officially here and I am super excited! I love it all; the crisp air, changing leaves, fall fashions and SOUP!
I love, love, love soup! Chunky soup, just broth, soup with noodles or rice-you name it I love it and with the weather finally breaking, what better time to search for a new soup recipe to warm up with.

Lately, I've been considering a soup a little more on the savory side and also more filling, so I've opted for a Loaded Baked Potato Soup (without the bake)!! That's right! LOADED and although there are plenty of mouth watering potato soup recipes out there, here is one created all by little ol' me.
Enjoy my lovelies!
