Pumpkin Pancakes

As you all can see Fall is probably my most favorite season.  I just love it. So as we are gearing towards then end of Fall and coming closer to Winter, I bring one more touch of Fall in these delicious Pumpkin Pancakes. These pancakes are very different from traditional pancakes and with the caramel and whip cream topping (my attempt at the IHOP version) there is no need for maple syrup. Check out this easy recipe here

Enjoy!

One Hot Mommy Interview

Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing a close friend of mine Donnesha R.! She exudes a Mommy Stiletto attitude and way of living! I admire her so.....so much that I can tell you how she once showed me how she stored earrings inside the purses they matched...hee hee heee (remember that)!!! But seriously, she is a great mom and is nothing less of stylish and chic!!! Enjoy her One Hot Mommy Interview below!

Q1- As a Mommy, what is one thing you find most challenging about keeping yourself looking fabulous?
Finding time within my busy schedule for pampering appointments (hair, pedi, etc.)

Q2- What are your favorite things to do to unwind?
It's cliche, but a long relaxing bubble bath while listening to Jazz

Q3- What are the TOP beauty regimens that you live by?
Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer---Scrub twice a week, Avocado & Oatmeal Mask once a week

Q4- Now being a Mommy, do you wear shoes that are more comfortable or do you still strut in your stilettos?
I still strut in my stilettos. However, if I'm out running around with my little one, I wear whats comfortable :-)

Q5- How important is maintaining your beauty and femininity?
As a woman I feel I have embodied beauty and femininity.  As a mother it is important my daughter has a clear understanding of what a woman is.

Q6- If there were 10 more hours added in a day, what would you use them for?
To spend more time with my family

Q7- Being a mother of a little girl, what do you instill in her as far as health and beauty?
I eat very healthy and what you put in your body reflects on the outside. She exercises along beside me, we practice daily hygiene steps, and how to keep her skin and lips moisturized. She has eczema, but you would never know it.

Q8- What nail color are you currently crushing on?
I'm not too in to the flashy colors. A simple classic french manicure does the trick for me.

Q9- Whats your favorite beauty product?
       Nuetrogena invigorating facial Scrub

Q10- In your opinion, what makes the outfit; the clothes or the accessories?
I think the accessories make the outfit. Anyone can throw on a nice dress, but a pair of sexy stilettos, earrings and nice handbag takes it to another level.

Road Trip!

A couple of weekends ago I took a short trip to Savannah, GA with my dear friend K. Byrd. We had a nice time just aimlessly wondering the infamous River St. The weather was nice....a little cold the first night, but nice nonetheless. We enjoyed the sights, the food and the wonderful sound from a saxophone player as we walked from shop to shop. One thing I love about this part of Savannah is the calmness. It just seems so peaceful during the day and night. My friend and I enjoyed delicious food from Huey's, The Cobblestone Cafe and Paula Deen's Lady and Sons.

This little trip was much anticipated for weeks and to my surprise (just knowing this was the mini-vacation I needed to re-up) I COULD NOT EVEN SLEEP THROUGH AN ENTIRE NIGHT!!! What in the world???!!!??? Was I missing my 2-yr-old's knees in my back or my 18 month old crying for milk at 2am? Who knows...but what I do know is, although I enjoyed this trip, I missed the heck out of my family and could not wait to return to them.

Fall Table Arrangement

For Fall this year I wanted to do something different with my pumpkins. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I went to the arts and crafts store and grabbed some metallic paints. Two colors were applied by brush and one sprayed onto the pumpkins. I added some fall colored flowers and leaves that I had left over from another project. Here are the finished results.

Hope you like!

*And as you can see....whenever Mommy is painting the little ones have to paint too, so I gave them some finger paint and a squash also :)*

Chicken Tortilla Soup

I really do enjoy many kinds of soup, but one of my absolute favorites is Chicken Tortilla Soup. This love affair started many years ago when I orderd some for the first time at a place called Max and Erma's. Its so delicious...the cheese, the chicken, the kick!! Mmmmmmmm!! And I can honestly say I have never had some that taste so good at any other place besides Max and Erma's until now--------> IN MY OWN KITCHEN!!! Check out this recipe here...and the site allows you to select the number of servings you want then changes the measurements for you...but I just simply used one can of each required soup and a 26 ounce jar of salsa. DELICIOUS!

Can We Have Cupcakes Mommy? Sure You Can!!!

Anyone who knows me knows that there is nothing I love more than putting smiles on my little darlings' faces! Its very normal in our home to have a small party with favors and treats for no occasion at all. As a mom I am so fulfilled seeing the joy the smallest things bring our children, and there really is no limit I will not go to in order to achieve that!  Yesterday evening my girls asked for cupcakes and I was excited to get to work. I used a basic white cake mix with white icing but added food coloring to make the cupcakes nice and colorful. I'm no professional but my girls thought they were FANTASTIC!!

Macarons Followup

So the vibrant cookies arrived at my door on time and I could not wait to start tasting...but I did have to WAIT since I promised my hubby bubby that I would not eat one without him. *Love you honey*
I ordered a dozen and within the box were: white chocolate, Pistachio, Coconut, Caramel "Fleur de Sel", Honey Lavender, Cappuccino, Raspberry, Cassis, Chocolate Passion fruit, Vanilla, Matcha green tea, and Pumpkin Cinnamon. These cookies in my words are like little cakes with a different cream like center for each flavor. I enjoyed the overall texture of the macarons and of course the look of them are just fabulous! I have to be honest; I have only tried a few so far but the Caramel "Fleur de Sel" has already stolen my heart!!! I will be ordering a dozen or more of that flavor alone!

Pumpkin Decorating (for the little ones)

As mentioned in an earlier post, my husband and I took our girls pumpkin picking in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We had such a good time. Since my little ones' are 2 yrs and 18 months, I decided that we would try something different (and safer since my girls are in the "I CAN DO IT MYSELF MOMMY" stage) than the traditional pumpkin carving.

I went to an arts and crafts store and grabbed some cute fall foam stickers and glitter glue sticks. I also picked up a few paint colors for my own pumpkins that I will post later.
